20+ YEARS OF BLACKBOX CULTURE— evolved for a new era.
The world's first OBDSL-validated, METS-compliant Linux workspace.
Blackbox (circa 2007)→Blackbox-hwm™ (circa 2026)
Blackbox-hwm is an advanced, high-performance workspace built using the Openbox Domain-Specific Language (OBDSL).
A two-stage validation process is employed to ensure build compatibility, integrity, reproducibility, and standards compliance.
What H-Linux Actually Is (And What It Is Not!)
🤖 What AI says:
H-Linux is a specialized framework for creating a modern, streamlined Linux workspace.
It centers on the Blackbox-hwm workspace and integrates advanced technologies, including creating bespoke solutions where standard tools are insufficient.
H-Linux is NOT distributed as a downloadable ISO file for standard installation.
👤 Don't like AI slop? Well, here's what we say:
H-Linux is a Linux transformation framework, providing users with a modern, minimalist and dynamic Linux experience.
It is built around the Blackbox-hwm workspace, leveraging bleeding-edge technologies and engineers entirely new technologies where current options do not serve its requirements.
H-Linux is NOT a Linux distribution which can be downloaded and installed using an ISO archive.
"So how do I install H-Linux?"
H-Linux is currently under heavy development and should still be considered a prototype.
It is being engineered using an entirely new and advanced approach, differing significantly from the typical development of mainstream Linux distributions.
H-Linux will not be installed via a downloadable ISO.
Instead, it utilizes the Forge system installer, which downloads, installs, removes, moves, replaces, and corrects all necessary packages and configurations to transform a base installation into H-Linux.
There is currently no timeframe for a public release of H-Linux.
We are working hard to get it ready for public release but when you're engineering and building a platform to precision and perfection, it takes time.
It will be ready only when we declare it ready.
Our Ethos
H-Linux is inspired by Eastern influences and Buddhist principles, and guided by a philosophy of harmonious coexistence between technology and the user.
This ethos underpins a strict commitment to standards compliance, validated graphical environments, respect for free and open-source licensing, Creative Commons licensing, and W3C-validated source code.
Blackbox-hwm embraces the responsible development of bleeding-edge technology, including the thoughtful use of artificial intelligence.
We believe firmly in user choice.
AI integration within Blackbox-hwm is optional, never enforced, and designed to assist rather than control.
Users remain free to adopt or ignore AI-assisted features as they see fit.
Human oversight remains fundamental.
While AI has been used to assist in complex areas of development, all source code undergoes careful human review (yes, line by line) to ensure quality, security, and integrity.
Blackbox-hwm is engineered with an uncompromising commitment to precision, aesthetics, and technical excellence.
Every detail matters and nothing less than excellence is accepted.
